West Bromwich Albion fans have been reacting to the performance of Karlan Grant during their game against Derby County in the Championship.

The Baggies had made an incredible start to life back in the Championship and came into the game unbeaten and top of the table against a Derby County side that had struggled so far, only winning one of their games to start the season.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

Grant, who is valued at £7.2 million (as per Transfermarkt), went into the game without the greatest return when it came to goals, having just scored one goal all season, and the 23-year-old didn’t have the best of performances at the Hawthorns against the Rams, only managing to get off one shot on target and completing just 50% of his passes before being dragged off at half-time (stats from WhoScored).

It was no surprise then to see him come in for some rather fierce criticism for his performance from Baggies fans on social media:

“Is Grant on the pitch? Hugill at half time for me here. Need someone who will bully the defenders in the air.”

#Grant missing in action. Grant off, Phillips on. Move Grady to the left, Phillips on the right”
“Tell me what Grant offers?! Robbo is not a CF, needs to play off the left, Grady improving but he also needs to play off the left! No balance in the team. Zero creativity from midfield 2. Hard watch this”
“Grant anonymous. Ajayi, although rapid, is so slow to react at times. He has the mental agility of a sloth at the moment. And I get the idea of getting the ball upfield as quick as possible but not when we’ve got nobody to hold it up. Frustrating again.”
“But all of the teenagers on here kept claiming that Grant was going to win the Championship golden boot?”
“Grant shouldn’t be starting anyway tbh”

Will West Brom go up as champions?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Hopefully he’ll be able to pick up his form as the season goes on. He’s got a decent record in the Championship and West Brom are going to need him to recreate that if they are to stand a chance of getting promoted this season.
