West Bromwich Albion fans have been reacting to news coming out surrounding defender Dara O’Shea.

The Baggies have made a near-perfect start to the season under new boss Valérien Ismaël, remaining undefeated in all of their league games so far as they headed into the international break second in the league table.

22-year-old O’Shea has certainly played his part in getting them this far, playing every minute of every league game and even managing to find the back of the net twice.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

However, Baggies fans won’t be seeing him for the foreseeable future as the club recently announced on their website that he “has been ruled out for four to six months after suffering a fractured ankle while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland” and will also require surgery as he sustained ligament damage at the same time.

The news was relayed to fans on Twitter where there were a number of them left quite upset when they saw the news:

“Gutted for you @dara_oshea_ you have really grown and developed into a solid consistent player. Speedy recovery and look forward to your return for the last push for promotion hopefully”

“Oh dear. Get well soon mate”
“4-6 months. Big miss for us”
“Wow 4-6 months! He’s gonna be a huge miss this season #wba”
“This is very bad news. #wba”
“Such a shame! He started off this season so well too, come back stronger Dara!”
“Devastated for him. Just hope the recovery is clean and we see him back soon. Been excellent so far this season”
“Huge blow this a player who’s come back after a tough season in the Premier League for club – and seems to have learnt a lot for the experience and is getting better & better & no doubt becoming a mainstay in the first 11 – always as the eye of the tiger speedy recovery”

A devastating blow for sure, especially when you consider he’s been one of their better players this season, currently sat in the top five for tackles, interceptions, clearances and blocks per game for Ismaël’s men (via WhoScored).
