Former Baggie Carlton Palmer believes that Jordan Hugill will give West Bromwich Albion a plan B.

Hugill signed for the Baggies on a season-long loan deal from Premier League team Norwich City. The 29-year-old featured for the Canaries on 34 occasions last season in all competitions, although only ten of those appearances were in the starting XI, with Hugill managing to score five goals.

Hugill has a good goalscoring record in the Championship as he has found the back of the net on 46 occasions and provided a further seven goals, whilst playing for Preston North End, Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City.

The centre-forward made his West Brom debut as a second-half substitute against Peterborough United and has come off the bench twice since, and he’ll surely be hoping to get the nod to start against Preston today after the side’s failure to score against lowly Derby in Midweek.

And Palmer believes Hugill gives West Brom a plan B, telling This Is Futbol:

“In terms of what Jordan will bring to the table for West Brom is an option as a big man, he’s a target man, he’s got great strength up there, he muscles opponents out, so you’ve got a plan B with him, which you need in that division.”

Despite disappointing draws against the Rams and Millwall at home in successive matches at The Hawthorns, the Baggies have made an unbeaten start to the new campaign.
