Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield believes the tribunal situation regarding Nathan Ferguson’s transfer from West Brom to Crystal Palace is a joke due to the time it’s taking to resolve.

The Sun recently reported that Crystal Palace will find out soon how much they must pay for the full-back with a tribunal to take place before 2022.

Ferguson made the move to Selhurst Park in July 2020 after his deal with West Brom expired, but due to injury is yet to make a first-team appearance for Crystal Palace.

Is this whole Ferguson saga a joke?

Hatfield labelled the length of time taken for a tribunal to take place as a bit of a joke, telling This is Futbol: “The tribunal situation is a bit of a joke – it’s been going for yonks now, it’s been going for years and they’ve still not sat down and had a chat about it. It’s still not sorted.

“In terms of a fee, it’s a really tricky situation because Albion and probably rightly so, when the deal was agreed, if you’re talking twelve million pounds, I think they saw that as a fair fee around that figure.

“And ultimately that’s when he’s joined Crystal Palace, the summer before his serious injury problems, but you know, he had the knee issue beforehand. They’ll want around that figure.”

Ferguson was signed when Roy Hodgson was the manager of Crystal Palace, but now under Patrick Vieira’s leadership, the 20-year-old fits the profile that the new manager wants.

In the summer Vieira brought younger players to the football club with Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, Odsonne Edouard and Conor Gallagher just a few names who arrived at Selhurst Park.
