Football journalist Dean Jones has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of Nottingham Forest potentially sacking their current manager Chris Hughton.

This comes after Jones made an appearance on a recent edition of Touchline Talk, where he spoke about a range of topics concerning a variety of clubs across the Premier League and EFL.

On the subject of Forest and Hughton, who has been on the receiving end of some criticism due to the club’s poor start to the season, Jones had this to say about the possibility of Hughton being sacked.

He said: “I wouldn’t really be surprised [if Forest sacked Hughton] because they can’t afford to let this drag on too long, and I think it depends how deep the negative vibes are within the camp, and I think that that’s a decision the board have to make quite quickly, to be honest.

“If you’re going to say he’s staying, then you’ve got to put faith in him and give it until that run towards Christmas.

“Otherwise, if you’re already thinking it’s getting away from you and that there are too many things going wrong, then you need to take a decision now.

“It’s a big decision to make, and I imagine they’ll take it reasonably quick.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments on Hughton…

Given how Forest are yet to win a game in the Championship this season, drawing one and losing four out of their five opening games so far, it’s easy to see why Hughton’s future at the club has been called into question and why there has been some criticism thrown at him from the Forest supporters.

Do you think Forest should sack Chris Hughton?

Yes

No

No

Taking into account how we’re still in the early stages of the current season, we feel that Hughton should be given time to turn Forest’s fortunes around and get them winning games.

However, as Jones mentioned, the club can’t afford to let Hughton carry on if he can’t get some positive performances and results out of the team soon, or else they could end up having a real struggle to avoid being part of a relegation battle as the campaign progresses.
