A number of Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to criticise goalkeeper Illan Meslier for his mistake against Burnley in the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side left Turf Moor with a point after Patrick Bamford’s late leveler stopped Chris Wood’s goal from winning the match for Burnley.

Matt Lowton sent a low strike towards Meslier and Wood was able to get the deftest of touches onto the ball to divert it slightly. Meslier looked like he was going to comfortably collect the slow-moving effort, but instead palmed the ball into the corner of his own net.

It was a touch unlucky given the deflection from Wood, but many Leeds fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan their £18m-rated number one for his part in the goal.

What did Leeds fans make of his performance?

Leeds face Liverpool at Elland Road after the international break and Bielsa will surely be hoping for a response from Meslier, and his teammates, against Jurgen Klopp’s Reds as they go in search of their first win of the campaign.

They now have two weeks to ready themselves to go again and ensure that this less than ideal start to the season is swiftly put behind them.
