A collection of Leeds United fans have amassed online to praise under-23 prospect Lewis Bate for a recent performance.
Bate played in the heart of Leeds midfield and clearly impressed fans despite his team falling to a 4-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur u23 in the Premier League 2.
The 18-year-old arrived from Chelsea earlier on this summer for an undisclosed fee – he had spent 10 years with the Blues and had captained them in the 2020 FA Youth Cup final.
The talented midfielder shared his disappointment with the recent loss on his Twitter page but a number of supporters soon offered him words of encouragement.
Here’s what these Leeds fans said
“Certified baller.”
“Well played today! Can’t wait to see you with the first team!”
Since moving to Leeds, Bate has yet to feature in an official match for the senior team. Instead, he has played every minute of the youth team’s Premier League 2 campaign so far.
If manager Marcelo Bielsa is as impressed as these fans it may not take very long before he does break into the club’s first team.
