Sky Sports journalist Tom White has said he believes Sunderland may have a ‘verbal agreement’ to sign current loanee Nathan Broadhead on a permanent basis.

As things stand, the Everton striker is set to spend the rest of the season on loan with the Black Cats, having signed with the League One club earlier this month.

However, while talking on the Roker Rapport podcast, White claimed that a ‘verbal agreement’ could have possibly been made between the two clubs, which would keep Broadhead in Sunderland for a little while longer than first anticipated.

White said: “I’ve got a feeling that Broadhead, although he’s on loan to us, I’ve got a feeling that he’ll be available next summer.”

He added: “Although there’s no deal in place for this to happen, I’ve got a feeling this might be a loan with a verbal agreement of an option to buy at the end of it. So that’s actually a bit more long-term.”

TIF Thoughts on Nathan Broadhead and Sunderland…

Broadhead arrives with prior experience in the lower English divisions, having spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Burton Albion, where he scored three goals in 22 appearances.

Meanwhile, last season he even made his Premier League debut, albeit managing just two minutes off the bench.

With a couple of appearances to his name already for the Black Cats since signing in August, Broadhead will be hoping to make a positive impact at the club who are now in their fourth consecutive campaign in League One.

If all goes to plan, it looks as if his future could well be coloured in the red and white of Sunderland.
