A whole host of Sunderland fans have reacted negatively on Twitter to the latest update surrounding Denver Hume.

Hume saw his contract expire at the end of last season and the Black Cats did put a new offer on the table, despite the defender currently being injured.

Will Sunderland earn promotion this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, Lee Johnson has said ‘the best offer has been put forward and the best offer has been declined,’ which will not make for pleasant reading amongst Sunderland fans.

A lot of Sunderland fans on Twitter were understandably very annoyed with Hume.

What have these Sunderland fans been saying?

“Mental how he thinks he’s a good player, injured half the season and when he did play he was average at best. Get rid of him”

@Adzy_bee

“Should have wrapped this in weeks ago. The minute his contract was officially up they should have given him a week, maximum, to decide and if nothing then sack him off Bang average footballer”

@OrwiteTreacle

“Time to move on”

@TomWilcock8

“Sounds like another Maja with poor people advising him”

@Michael__Bird_

“Show him the door!”

@AlexCatcherside

“He knows where the door is …… goodbye”

An easy one to kick off our quiz on the 2020 summer transfer window in the EFL, which player left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund?

Hume only managed to feature 24 times in League One last season for Sunderland, missing a large chunk of the season during the middle of the campaign, which may have forced Sunderland’s hand in terms of not offering him his required demands.

The Black Cats have already brought in a new full-back this window, with former Tottenham Hotspur youngster Dennis Cirkin joining the club on a three-year deal, so Hume may also not want to be a backup this season.
