Sunderland fans have registered their anger online after their head coach spoke about one of the club’s high-profile players.

As reported in a Chronicle Live article, the Black Cats’ manager Lee Johnson gave his blunt assessment of Will Grigg’s future at the club, claiming that Sunderland and the striker have ‘very different agendas’.

Johnson went on to explain that Grigg wanted to be closer to his family, who live in the Midlands area.

Sunderland writer James Hunter shared the information on his Twitter page and it didn’t take long before the club’s disgruntled fans offered their opinions.

What did these Sunderland fans have to say?

“‘Grigg has endured’ as have we.”

“He’s been nothing short of a disgrace since the moment he walked into the club. Should be held in the same regard as Rodwell, Djilobodji etc. Even when he’s scored he’s looked absolutely gutted. I get he doesn’t want to be here but since we’re paying him he could’ve pretended!”

Sunderland were reported to be desperate to sign Grigg in 2019, bidding eight times before finally having a £4m offer accepted.

Unfortunately for both parties, the transfer has never really worked out, and Grigg was even loaned out by the club last season.

Rumours of an exit this summer suggest the two could part ways before the transfer market closes. Judging from the comments, it doesn’t seem likely that the fans would be too sad to see him go.
