A whole host of Sunderland fans are fuming on Twitter with the latest update surrounding Denver Hume.

There has been an ongoing saga surrounding Hume who is currently out of contract but still training at Sunderland’s facilities to ensure he recovers from his injury correctly.

Will Sunderland earn promotion this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Lee Johnson has claimed that it is a ‘tricky situation‘ as the defender is now available to train but the club are not close to reaching an agreement with his representatives following the expiration of his deal earlier this summer.

Many Sunderland fans were left rather annoyed with the situation when the news was relayed to them by journalist Phil Smith:

What have these Sunderland fans had to say?

“Hume has taken that long to sign his contract with us or another club. I thought he’d retired”

@StevePSAFC

“Tell him the offer is off the table and let’s all move on he is not Ronaldo!! Not going to beg him to sign.”

@RickyReay

“Time to pull the plug.”

@AL_SNR58

“Withdraw the contract offer. Make him beg”

@derekjbackhome

“Just let him go now, can’t stand players holding the club to ransom especially when we are supporting him with training and things like that.”

@Buntingfootball

“Chase him, situation gone on too long now. Nobody is irreplaceable”

@mog1971safc

It may be a difficult situation for Hume to be in now as he is still not fit for first-team football and even if he does sign the new deal at Sunderland, his place is not guaranteed as the Black Cats have signed Dennis Cirkin from Tottenham Hotspur.

An easy one to kick off our quiz on the 2020 summer transfer window in the EFL, which player left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund?

It has been a relatively good start to the season for Sunderland, who have managed to win three out of their four opening games across all competitions.
