Regarding their most recent league fixture, many Celtic fans have taken to social media to offer their thoughts on one of the unused squad players.

Vasilis Barkas has come into some criticism during his time at Celtic so far, and the arrival of Joe Hart this summer has seen the Greek fall down the pecking order.

The goalkeeper wasn’t even on the bench for the 6-0 home victory over Dundee but still took part in the warm-up. However,  a video clip shared online caught his less than enthusiastic efforts, as the 27-year-old failed to dive for any of the shots that were fired past him.

Naturally, the Celtic supporters had a to say about Barkas and his apparent lack of effort.

What did these Celtic fans have to say?

“Doesn’t make any saves when he’s in the starting 11 either, so no change there then.”

@rabf67

“Get more action out a scarecrow.”

@Cassman2405

“Shocking get him sold.”

@TonyRos28015962

“He is quite clearly refusing to even try what a waste of 5 million quid, if you make mistakes and are dropped and then give up as if it’s not my fault, that’s poor attitude.”

@Kevster90KevIN

“There’s no excuse for this”

@celticbhand

“A disgrace”

@OarDeadly

“Warms up how he plays.”

@stuholmes1978

Barkas has only played once so far this season – the 1-1 home draw against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League qualifying rounds – and has not featured since.

With the ‘keeper not even on the bench for the Dundee fixture, it looks as though his chances may well be limited this season.

Failing to show much enthusiasm in the warm-up probably won’t convince manager Ange Postecoglou to change his mind either, so it may not be the busiest start to the season for Barkas.
