Get French Football News writer Adam White believes Nantes forward Jean-Kevin Augustin could be a good buy for Celtic as he continues to be linked with a move to the Glasgow club.

According to French outlet Homme du Match, Celtic are interested in signing Augustin this summer as new manager Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his options up front.

Augustin has really struggled at his recent teams Nantes, Leeds United and AS Monaco, failing to score a single league goal for any of those three sides. At Nantes, though, the 24-year-old has been suffering from long Covid-19.

Even so, White is convinced Augustin has the potential to be a good signing for Celtic, recalling when the Frenchman and a certain World Cup winner caused absolute havoc together at youth level.

“He was good for the underage French teams when he came through at PSG,” the French football expert told TIF.

“The tournament that France won, I think the Euro U19s where [Kylian] Mbappe sort of broke through to some extent before his season at Monaco, Augustin was sort of his partner in crime if you like and scored a lot of goals in that tournament as well.

“He’s a very talented player. It’s just whether you can get the best out of him because if so, he’d be a really good signing.”

Celtic have already had great success with French forwards in Odsonne Edouard and Moussa Dembele, who have also spent time in Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system like Augustin. Perhaps Augustin could be the Bhoys’ next success story.
