Scottish football writer Alison McConnell has spoken in glowing terms about one of Celtic’s emerging star talents.

Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side managed their first home league win of the season with a recent 6-0 thumping of Dundee. Stealing the show, however, was new signing Kyogo Furuhashi, who netted an impressive hat-trick.

Journalist McConnell was quick to heap praise upon Furuhashi in regards to the instant impact he has had.

While speaking on The PLZ Football show, McConnell said: “It’s the kind of player that Celtic have been crying out for, just in terms of getting bums off seats and getting people excited.”

She went on to explain the difference she spotted between the Japanese striker and his teammate Odsonne Edouard, saying: “I think Odsonne Edouard has looked as though his head has maybe been away, given all the talk about moves, and he looks a bit distracted.

“And I think Furuhashi has just come in and offered a bit of optimism about what this season could hold, that has been absent for the last few weeks.”

TIF Thoughts on Kyogo Furuhashi, Odsonne Edouard, and Celtic…

Furuhashi has been in scintillating form since joining the club this summer, scoring four goals in his last two appearances.

Edouard, on the other hand, has been linked with a move away from the club and so it would make sense for him to not quite appear as enthusiastic as his teammate – though, to his credit, he did get himself on the scoresheet late on at the weekend.

Despite the rumours, Celtic boss Postecoglou is reportedly still content to play Edouard. The manager will surely be hoping his main striker will be lifted by the form of new signing Furuhashi, which is understandably earning rave reviews for the new signing after a superb start to life in Scotland.
