Celtic fans online have expressed their dissatisfaction following the latest update in the club’s pursuit of a new signing.
Journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk took to Twitter to explain that he believed a deal for Josip Juranovic was no longer going to happen, adding that the club did not have the funds to continue with their attempts to bring in the Croatian defender.
Everything Celtic shared the information to their followers, with many bemoaning the apparent lack of finances that has seen the Hoops reportedly pursue alternatives.
Here’s what these Celtic fans had to say…
“That’s a shocking state of affairs if true.”
“I’m no accountant, but if there is one thing readily available at Celtic, it’s funds. We’re the most miserly club in world football.”
“Funds? We’re owned by the richest man in Ireland? Where’s the Frimpong and Ajer money gone? Biscuit tin mentality?”
Considering the Scottish outfit just took in a reported £13.5m for the sale of Kristoffer Ajer to Brentford, it’s understandable that some Celtic fans would expect the signing of Juranovic to be possible.
It’s believed the Bhoys could land the defender for as little as £2.5m, which, compared to some recent fees, is hardly an astronomical figure.
Of course, Celtic have already brought in a handful of new signings such as Kyogo Furuhashi and Joe Hart, so perhaps the fee for Juranovic really is too much for the club.
