Celtic fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest piece of transfer news to emerge concerning the Parkhead club.
This comes after Celtic-focused Twitter account @aboutceltic shared a post relaying news originally shared by journalist Alan Nixon.
Nixon tweeted that a potential move to Celtic for James McCarthy is “being discussed” at the moment.
This post from the Celtic page quickly gathered a number of replies from Hoops supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this claim.

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though these Celtic fans would be happy to see their club make a move to sign McCarthy this summer.
The 30-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with English Premier League side Crystal Palace ended last month.

In our view, if Celtic were able to sign McCarthy on a free transfer this summer, we feel that he would be able to provide Ange Postecoglou’s side with plenty of experience and leadership considering the only current Celtic centre-midfielder over the age of 22 is Callum McGregor.
Also, with the club having already spent some money on bringing in new players in recent weeks, potentially signing McCarthy on a free transfer would be a great way to strengthen their squad without having to pay a transfer fee.
