A lot of Celtic fans have slammed Carl Starfelt’s performance against AZ Alkmaar.

The Swedish centre back is a new signing in the Ange Postecoglou era but he has not done anything to win over the Celtic fans during the club’s second leg match against AZ Alkmaar.

Will Celtic miss Ajer this season?

Starfelt had a performance to forget as he netted an own goal in the first half which put the Dutch side ahead on the evening, this is despite Celtic taking the lead inside five minutes through new signing Kyogo Furuhashi.

Many Celtic fans have ripped into Starfelt following his performance.

What have these Celtic fans been saying?

Welsh and Starfelt are terrible. Getting done here big time, and this liability is the best defender we could attract. We’re no playing average SPL teams now, strap in”

@kev14cfc

Typical us, starfelt has been a nightmare since he’s came in, no better than what was there”

@DannyMunro07

Get him out the club please”

@kianmcgrath03

Starfelt is beyond hopeless”

@Tim_Poster

Defence is a shambles. Starfelt frighteningly poor!!!!”

@markmcguire04

Starfelt is shocking”

@RyanJenkins16

Starfelt – was giving him the benefit of the doubt but, no way is the guy worth £4M”

@McKay779

It’s not just the own goal from Starfelt which has angered Celtic fans since his signing, he made two poor attempts to win the ball during the club’s opening day defeat against Hearts and that sort of form appears to have carried into the Europa League.

The own goal that Starfelt scored in the first half appeared to be extremely difficult to pull off, but the 25-year old managed to guide the ball past Hart, which seemingly may have tipped a lot of fans over the edge in terms of their thoughts on him.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Celtic splashed out £4.5 million on Starfelt this summer, the second most money they’ve paid for a player so far this transfer window, but it appears that some fans may have already had enough of their new Swedish centre back.
