On the latest YouTube video from the Hammers Chat channel, presenter ‘Gonzo’ has questioned whether reports regarding West Ham’s supposed transfer budget should be taken seriously.

According to TalkSport’s Jim White, the Hammers have a figure of between £40m-45m to spend in the remaining days of this summer’s transfer window.

With just a matter of weeks until the window shuts, David Moyes’ side are expecting the arrival of Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, with the Frenchman already undergoing his medical ahead of the potential move.

It is believed the planned deal to bring Zouma to the London Stadium is to be worth in the region of £25m and is expected to be completed within the coming days.

Discussing his thoughts on whether the claim from the TalkSport presenter may be accurate, Gonzo had the following to say on the matter.

“We all know that Jim White not only has close contacts with the board; I think – it’s not even some massive theory – I think it’s pretty clear that before Jim White talks about West Ham, he’s on the phone to David Sullivan first – he says as much, doesn’t he?

“So I think, at the very least, if Jim White is saying we’ve got £45m to spend, then whether we have or not is by-the-by, he’s at least been told by the owners that we have £45m to spend.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham’s transfer window…

With Zouma expected to make it over the line in the coming days, it could make for an interesting final few days for the Hammers, which could possibly see them look to add their summer-long target, Jesse Lingard.

The Manchester United man has been heavily linked with a potential return to the London Stadium this summer having spent the back-end of last season on loan with Moyes’ men.

Lingard has played just four minutes across Manchester United’s opening two games of the new season, and with this in mind, we think both parties should be pushing for the potential move.
