On the latest edition of the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano has revealed a potential summer arrival West Ham United are hoping to bring to the London Stadium.

According to the transfer insider, the Hammers are working hard to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic this summer in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £14m.

Reports in England have suggested David Moyes’ side have also held talks for Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma and Duje Caleta-Car from Marseille, however, Romano suggests the Serbian is their main priority.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with their London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, who have recently acquired the services of Argentine defender Cristian Romero.

Discussing West Ham’s pursuit of the Fiorentina star, Romano had the following to say on how negotiations between the two clubs are going.

“West Ham [are] pushing. There is something to be fixed between the two clubs talking about add-ons for the value of the player. But West Ham are really pushing on Milenkovic from Fiorentina as [a] new centre-back.”

TIF Thoughts on the potential deal…

We think this would make for a great deal for the Hammers. The Serbian defender has proven to be a key component in Fiorentina’s side over the course of the last three seasons, missing just nine league games over that time (via Transfermarkt).

With a reported price tag of £14m, the centre-back has received reported interest from other clubs such as Spurs for his services, so we think West Ham should be looking to conclude a deal as quickly as possible.

In comparison to some of the fees which have been paid already this summer by Premier League sides, £14m seems like a very good deal to us for a young and experienced centre-back who West Ham fans will surely be hoping they don’t miss out on.
