Pete O’Rourke has been discussing the latest situation surrounding West Ham’s attempts to sign Kurt Zouma on The Done Deal Show.

Reports have suggested that the Hammers are interested in signing Zouma, who appears to be falling down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel with the likes of Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen ahead of him.

The French centre-back was reportedly going to be used in a deal to bring Jules Kounde to Stamford Bridge, however, it is thought Zouma did not want to move to La Liga and join Sevilla, which has seen him remain with the European champions as it stands.

O’Rourke spoke about Zouma’s future and links to West Ham.

He said: “We know West Ham have shown an interest in Kurt Zouma. Chelsea obviously offered Zouma in part-exchange to try and finalise this move for Jules Kounde, but Zouma wasn’t that interested in being a bargaining chip in that deal; he wasn’t really overly keen on a move to La Liga.

“His preference was to stay in the Premier League if he was to leave Chelsea, and moving across London to West Ham seems to be the best option for Kurt Zouma right now.

“The only issue I think for West Ham was maybe his personal terms, they thought [they] might be a complication for any deal to happen.”

TIF Thoughts on Zouma potentially going to West Ham…

Zouma only started two out of the last six Premier League games, which may have been a signal of the end for Zouma under Tuchel, but the defender did enjoy a relatively successful time, picking up the Champions League trophy and scoring five goals in the top flight.

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

David Moyes may be looking to bolster his defence at the London Stadium with three centre-backs currently at his disposal who are at least 31 years old, whereas Zouma is just 26, so he would be able to bring some much-needed youth and pace to the backline.
