Jim White has been on the TalkSport Daily podcast, where he was talking about where West Ham stand in terms of their attempts to sign Kurt Zouma.

Now that Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign the French centre-back, the Hammers now appear to be in pole position to seal a deal to sign the Chelsea defender, which could end up totalling around the £25 million mark.

Would you be happy to see Zouma join West Ham?

Zouma has not featured for Chelsea in the Premier League this season under Thomas Tuchel, which could signal that he no longer has a future at Stamford Bridge, despite featuring 24 times in the league last campaign, as well as scoring five goals.

White offered an update on West Ham’s pursuit of Zouma.

“Where are they at with Kurt Zouma of Chelsea? They’re trying to get him? Yes, they’re trying to get him, and they have been talking. In fact, so much so, a deal is in place between the two clubs, Chelsea and West Ham, of around £30 million, but the player’s own personal terms and his wage is the stumbling block.

“It’s my understanding this morning there is a plan B in place for a defender and everything is set for that to happen.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham’s pursuit of Zouma…

West Ham have made a perfect start to the Premier League season having won their opening two fixtures and scoring eight goals in those matches against Newcastle United and Leicester City, but having conceded two against the Magpies, who failed to lay a glove on Aston Villa, a defensive reinforcement may be a priority for David Moyes.

Nice easy one to start off with. How much do you think Declan Rice is worth?

Zouma would bring winning experience as he’s won the Champions League and Premier League with Chelsea and given he’s still just 26 years old, he could be a mainstay at the London Stadium for the foreseeable future should he join, especially if the Hammers can keep challenging for Europe.
