Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to some comments from Nuno Espirito Santo, in which he discusses Ryan Sessegnon’s less than impressive performance in the midweek win against Pacos de Ferreira.

Despite his side winning 3-0 to secure their spot in the Europa Conference League group stages, the Portuguese manager was quick to share his disappointment with the youngster’s display.

He said (as per Alasdair Gold):

“He is struggling. A lot of time out of competition. He has talent. He is a player that can give us good things, one vs ones, crossing, energy, but he did not do all that he has today. I truly believe he has much more that he can give.”

What did Spurs fans make of Nuno’s comments on Sessegnon?

“Spot on he has no conviction in his play still. Same player who went on loan last season. Star as a youngster but hasn’t improved.”

“Nuno will soon realise Sessegnon isn’t up to it. Haven’t seen much ability and has no bottle. Another poor signing.”

Does Sessegnon have a future at Spurs?

Does Sessegnon have a future at Spurs?

Yes

No

No

Sessegnon spent last season on loan with Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, making 23 appearances in the Bundesliga, in which he contributed two goals and three assists.

It was perhaps hoped that he could return to Spurs and challenge the likes of Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies for a starting spot at left-back, but these fans clearly aren’t impressed with what they have seen thus far.

The former Fulham man, who joined Spurs in 2019, has managed one goal and one assist in the 14 appearances he has made thus far and has struggled to realise the promise he showed with Fulham as a teenager, and can only be described as a bit of a transfer disaster.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

As he is just 21, the £15k-a-week earning youngster has plenty of time to improve and hopefully, these comments from the manager will spur him on to perform better in future matches.
