On Fabrizio Romano’s Twitch stream, football journalist Mike McGrath has been speaking about the latest in potential transfer deadline deals.

One team which McGrath discussed was Tottenham Hotspur as he revealed the north London club were still hoping to bring in a new attacking option in the final few hours.

Has Fabio Paratici done a good job this summer?

Spurs have been linked with two main options at striker throughout the window, with Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez being two of the players the club looked at.

However, with both players now seemingly off the market, McGrath hinted that the Lilywhites may have to lower their expectations in quality if they were to secure a late deal.

Discussing Tottenham’s hopes for the remaining hours of the transfer window, McGrath had the following to say on what he understands to be the case at Hotspur Way.

“I think that they’d like a striker definitely, is what I’m hearing. They’d like a forward player.

“I think with Vlahovic off the market, it seems, which was their number one, I think it’s going to be very, very difficult to get somebody of the quality that they want.”

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ summer…

Spurs reportedly went into the summer window with the hopes of signing two centre-backs, but with just hours remaining, it seems they are likely to end the window with just the arrival of Cristian Romero to show for their efforts.

Spurs have been boosted by Harry Kane staying, however, they have not bought a backup striker for Kane following the departure of Carlos Vinicius from his loan spell (via Transfermarkt).

We think Bryan Gil could prove to be an exciting addition to the squad, but we definitely feel there are areas in which Spurs could still benefit from strengthening – and that appears to be the feeling at the club based on McGrath’s comments.
