Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been sharing their criticism for Lilywhites winger Steven Bergwijn after his latest performance for the north London club during their recent 1-0 victory over Wolves in the Premier League.

After getting their 2021/22 Premier League campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 win over Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side took on Wolves in their first away match of the season where a Dele Alli penalty secured the win at Molineux.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

During the match, however, it was Bergwijn’s performance, in particular, that caught the attention of a number of Tottenham fans, but for all the wrong reasons, with many subsequently taking to social media to express their feelings.

So, what did these Spurs fans have to say about Bergwijn’s performance against Wolves?

“Bergwijn is just awful I’m sorry”

@jackthfc_

“Bergwijn was so poor today”

@Jonesbj14

“BERGWIJN OH MY GOD LEAVE THE CLUB”

@_JosephxThfc2_

“One thing if Bergwijn can’t score but his terrible passing is something else entirely”

@THFC_aidan_

“Steven Bergwijn is Adama Traore without quite as much pace. His decision-making and final ball are shocking every time”

@Paul_Dicker01

“Bergwijn is a bad footballer”

@BigDannyP_81

“Bergwijn is TERRIBLE in 1v1 situations.”

@thfcJak

Looking at these tweets from this group of Spurs fans, it’s safe to say that they were not impressed with his display against Wolves.

Do you think Steven Bergwijn is good enough to play for Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Despite this apparent criticism from this bunch of supporters, the fact that the Dutchman earned himself a rather respectable match rating of 7/10 for his performance against Wolves from the Evening Standard, perhaps these Spurs fans on Twitter were being rather harsh on the winger on this occasion.

In our view, if Bergwijn will continue to be named in the team for Spurs moving forward, perhaps providing an assist or scoring a goal would settle some of the doubts from these fans about him.
