Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to claims from Alasdair Gold surrounding the future of Tanguy Ndombele.

Writing in an article for Football.London, Gold claimed that the 24-year-old would be staying at the club this summer, noting that despite the Frenchman’s desire to leave the club and the fact that Spurs have received interest from a couple of clubs about him, Daniel Levy and the board have decided that his services will be retained for the time being unless a ‘huge’ bid arrives in the coming hours.

The Athletic had previously stated that the midfielder was indeed set to stay amid interest from all sides to organise an exit.

Gold wrote: “At this late stage, unless a huge offer arrives from a club that Ndombele would also have to agree to, a decision has been made today at board level to keep the midfielder.”

Ndombele signed for the club in the summer of 2019 in a club-record deal and since then has gone on to make 75 appearances, scoring eight goals and chipping in with eight assists during that time, although he has yet to make an appearance under new Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo so far this season.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

The news of him staying was relayed to fans by Gold on his Twitter page, where there were a number of fans who were delighted to hear the news, perhaps believing he’d be an important part of the team moving forward:

“Tanguy staying ahhh”
“Can be a useful late sub.”
“Better than anyone we could sign (whilst in the ECL), IF we/he can sort his attitude…”
“We are winning the league”
“Ndombele, Neves, Hojbjerg. LET’S COOK!”
“Good news imo. His talent has been missing from our midfield Let’s hope he repays the club this season”

Do you think Spurs should sell Ndombele?

With his future at the club seemingly set, now it’s just a case of making sure that he gets some playing time this season rather than just being made to watch from afar.
