Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest transfer update to emerge concerning the north London club.
This comes after journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that Spurs have completed a deal to sign midfielder Pape Matar Sarr from FC Metz.
In his post, Romano said that a medical has been completed and that paperwork is set to be signed on the €15 million (£12.8 million) deal that will see Sarr stay at Metz on loan until June 2022.
Spurs have indeed since confirmed the signing of Sarr, who will spend the remainder of the season with Metz before linking up with his new side next year.
Romano’s post grabbed the attention of a number of Tottenham supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on his update.
So, what did these Spurs fans have to say in response to Romano’s post about Sarr?
“Hyped for this one”
“This kid could end up being one of our best ever signings, potential is through the roof. All depends on attitude/determination. Fingers crossed.”
“Pretty excited about this”
“I would have preferred a six-month loan but this is still a very good signing for the future”
“Come onnnnnn this is big good to leave him on loan as well”
Looking at the replies to this post from Romano, it’s safe to say that these Spurs fans are rather excited at this deal for Sarr, who has managed to score four goals and provide one assist in 28 appearances for Metz (per Transfermarkt).
With Sarr set to spend the current season on loan with Metz before joining Nuno Espirito Santo’s side next summer, the north London club will undoubtedly be hoping that the 18-year-old will be able to have a decent campaign with the French club so he can potentially be ready to immediately join Tottenham’s senior squad.
Are you excited by this update?
In our view, the fact that Spurs have secured a deal for Sarr shows that they must have seen something in him that made them think he could be a useful player for them in the future, so they will be hoping that this will turn out to be a wise investment in the long term.
