Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to team news that has come out surrounding youngster Dane Scarlett ahead of their Europa Conference League game.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are getting set to take on Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira as they make their bow in the competition. Spurs striker Harry Kane is set to miss the game due to a lack of fitness, with the Tottenham boss stating: “He is going to work today, he is going to work tomorrow, he’ll join the group on Friday and Saturday we will make a decision [on whether he could face Wolves on Sunday].”

A nice easy one to start off with, who is Tottenham's record signing?

That means there is a place going in the team for the game tonight, and that place appears to have been given to 17-year-old Scarlett – with Espirito Santo confirming that he will start the game.

Scarlett began making inroads into the team last season and even managed to bag an assist in the Europa League, but this game will represent his first start for the club at senior level. When the news was relayed to them by journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke as well as @Daily_Hotspur, there were plenty of fans delighted to hear the news:

“Indestructible!”

“Huge”
“I love this for him.”
“Exactly what we should be using this competition for! Give these young guys a chance to play competitive games!”
“He will go well. Dane has definite quality and by all accounts a good head on his shoulders. COYS”
“Against a mid-table Portuguese team, solid test for the kid.”

Do you think Dane Scarlett will have a big future at Spurs?

The game serves as a big opportunity for Scarlett to try and cement his place in the team going forward, because with the club on the lookout for forwards this summer, competition for places might be about to get a little trickier.
