Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Barcelona full-back Emerson, according to The Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath (via The Spurs Express).

The defender has been with the Spanish giants since 2019, but has found regular game time in their first-team hard to come by, which has seen him loaned out away from the Nou Camp.

He has made just two appearances in total for Barcelona, and spent the 2020/21 season out on loan with Spanish outfit Real Betis, where he featured on 38 occasions.

Starting with a current Tottenham star. How many PL goals has Harry Kane scored for Spurs?

Spurs are reportedly keen on landing his signature this summer, although it remains to be seen as to what stage of negotiations they’re at with the 22-year-old, who is rated at £22.5million as per Transfermarkt.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side finished seventh in the Premier League table last season, and are currently sat sixth in the top-flight standings this term, and they’ll be keen to put together a positive run of form in the early stages of this year’s campaign.

Plenty of Spurs supporters were quick to take to social media to react to the club’s rumoured interest in striking a deal for Emerson, with a number of fans being pleased to see him linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

A move for a right-back in Emerson could involve the future of Serge Aurier.

Whether the Ivorian leaves in order for Emerson to arrive remains to be seen, or whether the two could potentially compete alongside Japhet Tanganga for that right-back slot.

Meanwhile, Spurs are set to return to league action on Sunday afternoon, when they take on newly-promoted Watford, in a game they’ll be expected to pick up three points from.
