Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on WeAreTottenhamTV’s latest YouTube video to discuss potential incomings and outgoings at Spurs.

The Italian journalist discussed the future of Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has been heavily linked with a potential summer switch to north London.

It was believed the Japanese international was set to make the move to the Lilywhites following his participation in this summer’s Olympic Games.

However, with less than a week remaining until the end of this summer’s transfer window, the 22-year-old defender is still a Bologna player.

Discussing the likelihood of Tomiyasu getting his move to the north London side, Romano had the following to say.

“Tomiyasu has always been a player on his radar. He likes the player, he is really good, because he can play at right-back, centre-back, he has played also at left-back sometimes for Bologna. He is fantastic because he can play in many positions.

“But, it was not done. It was one of the opportunities. He had a bid in place for €18m, Bologna always wanted around €22m-23m to sell Tomiyasu. So there was no agreement, but he was always a name on the list.

“Keep an eye on him until the last minute.”

TIF Thoughts on Tomiyasu to Spurs…

This is a potential deal that was looking like Spurs would get over the line just a month ago, with reports suggesting the club were close to agreeing on a deal with the Serie A club.

However, the Japanese international is known as playing at both centre-back and at right-back, and we wonder whether Tottenham’s impressive defensive start to the season has changed their viewpoint on signing a new defender.

Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez have both impressed in the early stages of the new campaign, which we think could potentially have turned Fabio Paratici’s attention to other areas this summer.
