Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on Harry Kane’s future at Tottenham Hotspur following claims about the forward that have emerged.

Reports on Monday morning claimed that the England captain had not shown up for training at Hotspur Way on what was scheduled to be his first day back at the club following his holiday after being away on international duty.

Newcastle PL appearances quiz! This man is the all-time top Premier League appearance maker for Newcastle, but how many did he make?

This all comes amid talk surrounding his future at the club, with reports saying he wants to leave this summer and with Manchester City waiting in the wings to try and sign him if he does eventually put the club in a situation where they have to sell.

And speaking about the situation on Sky Sports News, Romano claimed that this week was going to be crucial when it came to deciphering what was going to happen with Kane’s future:

“From what I’m told, Tottenham’s stance is still the same, they’re convinced that Harry Kane will line up playing for Tottenham this season. But I know that Manchester City, as you’re saying, they are really prepared to jump in the race and try again for Harry Kane.

“So the situation is really tense, I think this week, everything will be clear because Tottenham need to take a position, but Manchester City are ready [to do a deal] if Tottenham change their position and allow Harry Kane to leave.

“This week will be key to understand what’s going to happen.”

TIF Thoughts on Fabrizio Romano’s comments about Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur…

Should Spurs sell Kane this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The way Romano is painting this really is making it come across as a case of who is going to blink first – whether it be Tottenham potentially bowing to Kane’s demands, or Manchester City running out of patience in having to wait for an answer.

Things really have taken a turn with Kane seemingly skipping training, which could really test Tottenham’s reported mantra of refusing to sell him this summer, but this could very well be the first sign that the player has the control in this situation rather than the club.

It certainly should be an interesting one to follow as the season draws ever nearer.
