On the latest edition of the Gold & Guest talk Tottenham podcast, Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking about potential summer signings.

The future of Tottenham’s main man, Harry Kane, is still up in the air having not been included in the matchday squad for their Premier League game against Manchester City.

Who would you prefer at Spurs?

Two names have emerged as the reported frontrunners on Tottenham’s list of targeted strikers, with the club declaring an interest the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic.

Spurs have reportedly placed a bid for the Inter striker, Martinez, whilst showing their clear interest in Fiorentina’s 21-year-old talisman.

However, Gold revealed that Vlahovic has climbed to the top of Fabio Paratici’s wishlist in the final weeks of this summer’s transfer window.

“From what I understand, he’s now kind of moved back to the top of the food chain, to the top spot in the strikers they’re looking at right now.

“Obviously, Martinez, suddenly it looked like there was a chance of getting him from Inter, an absolutely class player. At the moment, that door looks to have been – I wouldn’t say entirely closed, but it looks to be someone slowly pushing it.”

TIF Thoughts on Vlahovic and Martinez…

We think there is still a lot relying on Harry Kane’s future for Spurs when it comes to deciding which of these two reported targets would be the best fit.

If Spurs were looking to keep Kane and still add to their strikeforce, then we feel Martinez would likely make for a better strike partner than Vlahovic.

The Argentine striker is smaller in build than Kane and likes to attack with the ball at his feet. We feel the two could form a similar partnership to what Romelu Lukaku and Martinez struck at Inter.

In comparison, the 6ft 3in Vlahovic does hold very similar physical attributes to Kane, which we think is better suited to a one-man strikeforce.
