Alasdair Gold has been speaking on the latest edition of the Gold & Guest talk Tottenham podcast to discuss all things relating to the Lilywhites ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Spurs kick-off their Premier League season with a clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Do you think Kane will sign a new deal this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The game is expected to attract a lot of interest with the two clubs locking horns off the pitch over the future of Tottenham’s star man, Harry Kane, who reportedly wants a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Kane has now returned to Tottenham following reports the England captain had taken an extended summer break and returned almost a week late to Hotspur Way for his pre-season preparations.

Amid the speculation suggesting the 28-year-old is hoping to make the switch to the blue half of Manchester this summer, Gold provided a sensational claim on his potential Spurs future.

“There’s little bits of noises coming out from around his camp not to entirely rule out a new contract for him, which would be an incredible U-turn.

“And for me, even the prospect of that is incredible, because the other elements to that is: I guess, yes, if you’re going to stay, why not get paid more money? I get that entirely, if you’re going to look at it from purely that point of view.

“And I think, if you look at what Spurs are trying to do in the transfer market, you can maybe see there’s something exciting happening there.”

TIF Thoughts on a new Kane contract…

This really would be quite the turnaround. However, it could make a lot of sense. As reports state, Spurs are likely to hold out for what they want for Kane this summer as he has three years remaining on his contract.

If City are unwilling to match the valuation set by Daniel Levy, are they realistically going to come back in for Kane next summer?

It has been well reported that Erling Haaland will become available for around £75m next summer and we think City could well turn their attention to the Norwegian if they are unable to land Kane this summer.

So where would this leave Kane? Would any side come in for him next summer, or would he be better off signing a new and improved deal with the Lilywhites?
