Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking all things related to the Lilywhites on the latest edition of the Gold & Guest talk Tottenham podcast

The Spurs reporter was speaking following Tottenham’s 1-0 victory against north London rivals Arsenal in their final pre-season friendly.

Who would you rather sell this summer?

One player which caught Gold’s eye was Colombian centre-back Davinson Sanchez, who started the game amid speculation surrounding his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It is believed Sanchez was used in a proposed deal with Sevilla for their defender Jules Kounde earlier this summer, but the Frenchman reportedly rejected the chance of joining Spurs.

The 25-year-old played 73 minutes on Sunday and Gold had an interesting comment to make on the centre-back since returning from his summer break.

“What I’m told is that he’s come back from his exploits with Colombia, finishing third in the Copa America. And he’s come back, also with interest from other clubs in him, which boosts your confidence. And yeah, he’s come back a very confident player.

“Apparently, that’s why Nuno pretty much straight away chucked him into the first game he was really available for, and he played very well.”

TIF Thoughts on Sanchez’s future…

Sanchez signed for Spurs back in 2017 from Ajax and naturally carried high expectations as a result of his £37.8m transfer fee, which was a club-record fee at the time.

With questions surrounding his future, we think he could be sold to make way for a top-class centre-back this summer as Spurs look to add to the addition of Cristian Romero.

However, we think if Spurs could afford to keep Sanchez and sign another centre-back they could be better off selling Eric Dier, who had his critics last season.
