Tottenham Hotspur target Mikkel Damsgaard has been likened to fellow Dane Christian Eriksen by Italian football expert Conor Clancy, with fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Leeds United also keen.
Sampdoria midfielder Damsgaard rose to stardom thanks to his impressive performances as Denmark reached the Euro 2020 semi-finals earlier this summer.
The 21-year-old scored two goals in the international tournament, including a free-kick in the narrow defeat to England.
Would you like to see Mikkel Damsgaard in the Premier League?
According to La Gazetta dello Sport, via the Liverpool Echo, it has led to Liverpool making an enquiry.
Italian news outlet Il Bianconero reported Leeds and Spurs are also courting the hot prospect ahead of the Premier League season getting underway.
Damsgaard made 37 Sampdoria appearances last term, contributing two goals and four assists.
Reports in La Gazetta dello Sport, via MailOnline, suggest Sampdoria will only allow the exciting attacking-minded midfielder to depart if a club meets their £34million price tag.
Forza Italian Football editor Clancy feels there are plenty of similarities between Damsgaard and former Spurs midfielder Eriksen.
He exclusively told TIF: “I suppose it’s quite an obvious link to make but he is in the mould of Christian Eriksen in terms of what he has technically.
“I think Damsgaard is probably a little bit more mobile than Eriksen and he gets about a little bit more. He isn’t as static as a playmaker because he drifts, wanders out into the wide positions and is quick. He’s a very exciting player.”
