Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts is pleased with Fabio Paratici ‘s Pape Matar Sarr deal. 

Sky Sports reported that the 18-year-old was to under-go a medical on Tuesday ahead of a £14.6m plus add-ons move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The report also claims that as part of the deal, Sarr will be loaned back to Metz for the remainder of the 2021/2022 campaign.

Sarr offers versatility to his game having featured as a central midfielder and attacking midfielder so far this season, while he also operated as a defensive midfielder last term.

And Graham Roberts admits that he is happy that Sarr is signing for Tottenham, telling This is Futbol: “Just reading now on Twitter that Pape Sarr, they’ve done a deal with him and he’s signed, he’s staying at Metz for another year.

“He’s on a six-year contract which I think will do him good because he might come to Tottenham and wouldn’t get in the team at the moment maybe, I don’t know, I’ve not seen the lad play, but they say he’s a very, very good talented youngster, so that’d be good to look for him next season.” 

The youngster made 25 appearances for Metz’s first-team last season and got on the scoresheet on four occasions. Sarr has featured three times in Ligue 1 this term and registered an assist in Metz’s latest fixture against Stade Reims.

Spurs have made three other summer signings during the window with Cristian Romero, Pierluigi Gollini and Bryan Gil all arriving in north London, and Nuno Espirito Santo has got off to the best possible start to life at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by guiding his new side to wins over Manchester City and Wolves in the opening two match days of the 2021/2022 season.
