Chelsea should sign Robin Gosens as they look to build on their Champions League success in the upcoming season, according to Forza Italian Football editor Conor Clancy.

Thomas Tuchel has done a stunning job since succeeding Frank Lampard as the west Londoners’ head coach.

Having led the Blues into the Premier League top four despite replacing Lampard with Chelsea off the pace, the German then went on to guide his new club to the second Champions League triumph in their history as they overcame Premier League rivals Manchester City in the May final.

Serie A expert Clancy believes Tuchel should bolster his squad by welcoming fellow countryman Gosens to Stamford Bridge.

The Atalanta left-back scored 12 goals and added eight assists as he showcased his attacking capabilities in 44 appearances last term.

Gosens then went on to shine at Euro 2020, where he scored once and recorded two assists for Germany.

His performances on the international stage, as well as in Serie A, has led to plenty of interest. Sport has reported Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Manchester City are all interested in acquiring Gosens’ services, but Clancy feels Chelsea should be among those looking to sign the 27-year-old.

He told TIF: “I’m surprised that Chelsea haven’t made a big push for him, to be honest, because he is better than Ben Chilwell and their other options.”
