Newcastle fans have been reacting angrily on Twitter after it was reported that the club potentially wouldn’t add a loan player due to a lack of funds.

According to Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards, there is a growing possibility that the Toon won’t bring in a loan player before the transfer window shuts next week due to a lack of money available at the club.

So far this summer, Steve Bruce’s side have added just one player to their squad, with Joe Willock joining on a permanent deal after last season’s impressive loan spell.

Therefore, there is still an option for Bruce’s side to bring in two season-long loans to improve their squad but from Edwards’ update, it seems as if they might struggle to conclude a deal before Tuesday’s deadline.

How did Newcastle fans react to Edwards’ transfer update?

“There is money, they just won’t spend it. It is literally impossible to make as much as this club does and be skint.”

“The owners’ wealth has gone up by £750 million in a year & all we hear from his mouthpiece every week is “there’s no money”, ‘the budgets tight’ ‘we’re breaking all the rules by signing Willock’. It’s absolute nonsense & bare-faced lies.”

“If you are right that’s the death nail in our season. This squad is not capable.”

“Owned by a multi-billionaire and playing our 5th consecutive season in the richest league in the world and yet we are totally skint and can’t afford to lend some squad players.”

“I don’t even care anymore Luke, 3 games in & I can’t wait for the season to be done. It’s so rotten & pointless under Bruce, no matter what you think of him personally, he will never be accepted so it’s always going to be toxic. Re players signing – they have to or relegation looms.”

“Where’s the money gone???? How come almost every other club has been able to do business?”

Do Newcastle need to add to their squad?

After no wins from their first four games, you could definitely argue that new signings would go someway towards revitalising Newcastle.

Although the Toon have reportedly spent more than the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves and Everton this summer, that was all on Willock and after a relegation battle for much of last season, you feel that Bruce needs to strengthen his squad further if he wants to avoid another fight to avoid the drop.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

Given the riches of Mike Ashley and the TV money generated from being in the Premier League, it is easy to see why fans are disappointed with this update from Edwards.
