A whole host of Newcastle United fans appear to be excited on Twitter over the chances of them re-signing Salomon Rondon.

With Chinese Super League clubs struggling financially due to the pandemic, Rondon is reportedly set to be available as a free agent this summer, as per The Sun. Everton have been most strongly linked with making a move for the ex-Toon striker – perhaps due to Rafael Benitez taking the hotseat at Goodison Park.

Should Newcastle bring back Rondon?

The Venezuelan international enjoyed a successful loan spell on Tyneside as he managed to strike up a good partnership with Ayoze Perez, scoring a combined 23 goals between them in the 2018/19 Premier League season.

A lot of Newcastle fans appear to be delighted on Twitter with the latest Rondon news when the idea of a return to St. James’ Park was floated around by The Chronicle.

What have these Newcastle fans been saying?

“It is a no-brainer as we haven’t got a decent backup striker. Roydon scored more in one season than all of our backup strikers managed put together last season.”

“Yes please, almost guaranteed 10 goals, great cover for Wilson when injured and one of the best at holding up the ball since Shearer”

@DoubleDaddyD

“1000% take him back. Could be a great partnership with Wilson”

@NickEll71142327

“Absolutely for a season or two. Big upgrade on Gayle”

@MartinJohnson10

We should be all over this like. Perfect replacement for Carroll. Different is he can actually play and move around on the pitch. #NUFC”

@ChrisPage_Boz

“Bring the king home Brucey”

@SOLOMONJAKE_10

“Imagine the damage him and Wilson could do”

@TbmV6

Rondon has openly spoken about how he wanted to stay at Newcastle beyond his loan deal for the 2018/19 season, however, once Benitez left, he knew he had no future on Tyneside.

Newcastle PL appearances quiz! This man is the all-time top Premier League appearance maker for Newcastle, but how many did he make?

If Steve Bruce could bring in a striker that is familiar with the players and the club, it could be a smart piece of business, especially with Callum Wilson still absent from training, as he was not pictured in the latest pre-season images.
