Newcastle United journalist Liam Kennedy has been sharing his thoughts on U23s midfielder Elliot Anderson and his future with the Tyneside club.

This comes after Kennedy made an appearance on a recent episode of NUFC Matters on Steve Wraith’s YouTube channel, where he spoke about numerous topics concerning Steve Bruce’s side.

Despite having two first-team appearances to his name at Newcastle, Anderson remains part of the youth setup on Tyneside, and it is unclear what is in store for the 18-year-old this season under Bruce.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

On the subject of Anderson and his future at St. James’ Park, Kennedy had this to say on the matter.

He said: “The lad’s special. He’s got something, he really has got something about him.

“It sounds like, from the little noises that I’ve been hearing in and around the club, that he had that resting period with his hip and he seems to be over that now, they seem to be over the worst of it over the resting period and he’s starting to come back.

“I think he’s one that you could see pushing a few in the first team.”

TIF Thoughts on Liam Kennedy’s comments on Anderson and his future at Newcastle…

Given how Anderson has managed to score 11 goals and provide three assists in 24 appearances for Newcastle’s U23 side, it’s easy to see why Kennedy has a lot of faith and excitement about the player.

This also says to us that he could well be ready to start playing regularly in their senior side moving forward, as Kennedy hinted at.

Would you like to see Elliot Anderson playing in the first team this season?

In our view, if Anderson would be guaranteed to be playing fairly regularly in Bruce’s side throughout the season, then he should definitely stay and grab any opportunities that come his way at the club.

However, if he wouldn’t be guaranteed a substantial amount of playing time, then perhaps a loan move away to a club where he would be getting a lot of playing minutes would be more beneficial for his development until he is deemed ready to play in the first team.
