Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest update surrounding a potential transfer for Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock this summer.

This comes after Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that Willock is at Newcastle’s training ground “completing his transfer” from the north London club.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

Downie also added that the midfielder could begin training with the squad ahead of this weekend and that Newcastle are “trying to complete the deal by noon and have him registered for Sunday”.

This post then quickly gathered a number of replies from Toon supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest update.

So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this development about Willock?

“Excellent news – can’t help but be absolutely delighted with this. A permanent signing I thought both the club and the player would never go for.”

“Lovely”

@JamesInXtra

Hallelujah @Joewillock let’s go! Toon toon”

@ToonArmyBW

“Get in. So hyped to have Willock with us”

@bradley_sam

“Get it done!!!”

@jamieunited2k8

“About time as well probably the best thing to ever happen under Ashley”

@Michael58894456

Looking at the replies to this post from Downie, it’s clear to see that these Newcastle fans are delighted to hear that Willock is closing in on a permanent move to the Tyneside club, which just goes to show how much they admire the player.

Would you be happy to see Willock return to Newcastle?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given how the Englishman managed to score eight goals in 14 appearances for Steve Bruce’s side during his loan spell at St. James’ Park last season, it’s easy to see why these fans would be excited to see him potentially return on a permanent basis.

In our view, if Willock can have a similar impact on the team as he had last season if he does return this summer, he will undoubtedly prove to everyone just why the Toon decided to bring him back.
