A number of Newcastle United fans have expressed their dismay as Isaac Hayden is linked with a move to Premier League rivals Watford.

According to a report by Football Insider, the Hornets are hoping to sign the 26-year-old, who is understood to be keen on a potential move to Vicarage Road.

The report states that Watford hope to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis, although it does not clarify how much the club would be expected to pay to acquire the player’s services.

NUFC 360 shared the information with their Twitter followers, and it didn’t take long before supporters soon had their say on the rumours.

What did these Newcastle fans say?

“Don’t blame any player from wanting away. Shambles of a club.”

“Can’t be true, surely not.”

“We are living in a world where playing for Watford is actually an upgrade for a player. Thank you Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce for ruining our club.”

“It’ll hurt us if he leaves. Definitely a huge asset to us but he deserves a move closer to London considering he stuck with us throughout.”

“Of course he’s keen, every player would be keen to go work under an actual manager in a club with some sort of ambition.”
“Crazy if we allow him to leave, we are short in midfield as it is.”

This is certainly not the first time Hayden has been linked with a move away from the club. Indeed, he spoke candidly in 2019 about wanting to leave the Magpies to be with his family, who were based in London.

He ultimately remained with the club and even signed a new six-year contract with Newcastle last September. But if Watford’s interest is genuine, the former Arsenal man may get what he wished for – even if it’s a few seasons late.
