Newcastle United fans have been reacting to comments made by Steve Bruce about the club’s transfer business this summer.
The Magpies have been incredibly quiet when it comes to the transfer window, at least in terms of incomings, signing just the one player so far in the form of Joe Willock as the end of the transfer window ticks ever nearer.
Bruce recently spoke about the Newcastle situation, and explained that the reason they haven’t been able to bring many players in is down to the fact that they’ve been unable to sell, as not many clubs are willing to spend.
He said (via The Chronicle): “We haven’t been able to sell so I’ve not been able to trade. Nobody wants to sell their best players, and the Championship is basically on its knees. I would’ve listened to a few offers, but they’ve not been forthcoming.”
These comments were relayed to fans on the Newcastle United – Chronicle Facebook page, where there were plenty of fans who offered vitriolic responses to his comments, such was their frustration with how the club have handled the window:
Will Newcastle make any more signings before the window shuts?
Yes
No
When you combine Bruce’s comments with the bad start that Newcastle United have had, picking up just one point in their first three league games and already being knocked out of the League Cup, and you can certainly understand why there might be some frustrated Geordies out there right now.
