The news comes just days after the Magpies confirmed the return of Joe Willock on a permanent deal following his loan spell at the club last season.

Longstaff suffered a serious lack of game time during last season’s Premier League campaign, which saw him take to the field on just five occasions (via Transfermarkt).

Toon fans flocked to the post from The Chronicle to share their thoughts on the claims emerging about Longstaff’s future with the club.

What exactly did these Toon fans have to say?

The report suggests the 21-year-old is attracting interest from Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town after receiving offers from Scotland earlier in the window.

Longstaff extended his contractual stay by an extra two years last summer and these fans have been left extremely frustrated by what they believe is poor management of the youngster.
