Newcastle fans have been reacting angrily on Twitter to Steve Bruce’s comments on the boos he received during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Southampton.

Despite taking the lead in the 90th minute through Allan Saint-Maximin’s goal, the Toon only managed to take one point from the game after James Ward-Prowse scored a late penalty.

In truth, the Saints were the better team for most of the game, as evidenced by their xG stats at St James’ Park, so it was no surprise that Bruce was getting stick for the way his team were playing once again on Saturday.

Following the game, the former centre-back spoke about the response of Newcastle fans, saying:

“They’re entitled to their opinion. I find the whole thing very disappointing, as anybody would.”

How did Newcastle fans react to Bruce’s comments?

“Disappointing, that first half of so-called football was abject at best and atrocious more to the point. Lucky to not be 3 goals down in the first half. Second half only marginally better. If this continues he has to go. More square pegs in round holes.”

“Not as disappointing as the football being served up to us week in week out. Some nerve that bloke.”

“He will probably go down as the worst manager in the history of Newcastle. And we have had a load of bad managers. Ashley has to go now.”

“Patronising failure of a manager. Our club is a shambles and this whole situation where his job is the safest in the EPL is proof of that. Where is penfold?”

TIF Thoughts on Bruce’s comments…

On the rare occasions Newcastle won last season, very few Toon fans would’ve argued that they did so playing free-flowing, exciting football and it is for that exact reason that fans aren’t happy with Bruce’s performance as manager.

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

Considering they have failed to win so far this season, fans will only continue to criticise the former Sheffield Wednesday boss until he is finally given the sack.
