Ex-Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer fully expects Paul Pogba to sign a new Manchester United contract in the near future.

There has been reported interest in the Manchester United player from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with Sky Sports reporting that the Ligue 1 club are expected to make their interest in Pogba formal in the near future.

Pogba re-joined United back in 2016 for £89m from Juventus but, after entering the last 12 months of his contract, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding his Old Trafford future.

Sky Sports have also reported that Pogba does see a long-term future at the club, but it’s possible he won’t commit to a new contract in this window.

But despite all the talk about Pogba’s future, Carlton Palmer is convinced the France international will eventually sign on the dotted line to extend his United stay.

Palmer exclusively told This is Futbol: “There’s always going to be interest in Paul Pogba, he’s a fantastic football player. I have no doubt in my mind that Paul Pogba will sign a new contract at Manchester United.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said from day one that if Man United are to do well they need to build a team around Paul Pogba and I know he has his critics, he has to find his consistency but he’s a talented, talented footballer and if you’ve got ambition to be successful, you can’t be letting a Paul Pogba go that is for sure.”

Pogba scored six goals and provided a further nine for his teammates last season, taking his overall total to 38 goals and 45 assists for the Red Devils since his 2016 return.
