Former professional footballer Marcus Bent believes that Chelsea will be Manchester City’s closest challengers for the Premier League this season. 

The Cityzens won the Premier league by 12 points last season, with Manchester United finishing second on 74, Liverpool third on 69 and Chelsea claiming that last Champions League spot on 67 points.

Chelsea changed manager part way through the season with Thomas Tuchel replacing Frank Lampard in January and he helped guide the Blues to Champions League glory, as they beat Manchester City 1-0 in the final.

After Champions League success last season, Thomas Tuchel has moved to strengthen his attacking ranks, with the club completing the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.

Lukaku returns to Stamford Bridge, where he spent three years between 2011 and 2014, and will be tasked with helping the Blues defend their European crown and also to mount a serious Premier League title challenge.

And Former Premier League striker Marcus Bent believes Chelsea will be Manchester City’s closest rivals for the title, exclusively telling This is Futbol: “With this season, I think with Chelsea doing what they’ve done and with the squad and the academy that they’ve got, I think Chelsea is going to be the closest.”

Manchester City have been very strong in the Premier League in recent years, winning three of the last four titles.
