Steve Howey has tipped Harvey Barnes to fire Leicester City into the Premier League’s top four.
Barnes has returned to the fold after seeing his season brought to a premature end thanks to a knee injury sustained in the Foxes’ defeat to Arsenal in February.
Barnes, who scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 35 appearances up until that point, was helpless as Leicester missed out on Champions League qualification thanks to a final day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Will Leicester finish in the Premier League's top four?
But the winger is back in action and was on the scoresheet as Brendan Rodgers’ side stepped up their preparations for the new campaign with a 3-2 friendly win over Spanish side Villarreal earlier this week.
Ex-Leicester defender Howey believes Barnes, 23, must return to the form he showed before his injury if the Foxes are to better last season’s fifth place finish in the Premier League.
He exclusively told TIF: “He had a great season before the injury and is a very talented player.
“It unsettled Leicester when he came out of the side through injury but he has had a bit of time to recover.
“If he is at full fitness, Leicester will be at full tilt come the start of the season.”
