Joe Wainman has been talking up Leeds’ interest in signing a new winger this summer on the latest edition of The Daily Leeds on his YouTube channel.

Leeds saw a bid rejected last summer for Rangers’ Ryan Kent and their interest doesn’t appear to have cooled down, with Marcelo Bielsa reportedly still keen to bring in the winger, who managed to score 13 and assist 15 times for the Gers last season.

As it stands, Bielsa is able to call upon the same wingers he had last season in Raphinha and Jack Harrison, but if one of those were to pick up an injury, it would be Tyler Roberts or Helder Costa, with the pair of them only managing to score four times between them last season, so a new winger could be on the cards for Leeds this summer.

Leeds’s interest in bringing in a new winger was discussed by Wainman.

“I think those that are waiting in the wings are not good enough. God forbid, if we were to get an injury to a Raphinha or a Harrison, I think those that are ready to step in are just not quite there, for me.

“He [Phil Hay] did also say don’t discount Ryan Kent at Rangers – that interest goes back a long way. We touched on Ryan Kent earlier, links that we’re still interested in him, they want £20 million. Maybe that’ll change if Rangers don’t get into the Champions League.

“But, it’s clear: Bielsa loves Dan James, Bielsa loves Ryan Kent, the club love Noa Lang – it’s going to be one of them three.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ pursuit for a new winger…

Kent would be an exciting player if Leeds were able to bring him to Elland Road, however, as Wainman said, it could depend on Rangers’ adventures in the Champions League qualification rounds, as it may be unlikely Kent would want to leave Europe’s top domestic competition.

The former Liverpool winger is not the only one mentioned, with long-time target Dan James also touted with a potential move, and it was widely reported how close he was to joining Leeds during their time in the Championship, but it appears that they are willing to try and bring him to Elland Road this summer.

Leeds have had some odd players over the last ten years but how well do you remember them. Starting with the most recent one, who is this?

Being able to add one of Kent or James would bring top-level experience as well as both possessing an attacking threat from out wide, as Kent has scored 27 goals and registered 29 assists since joining Rangers, while James has scored nine times and set up nine since joining the Red Devils, albeit with much stronger competition at Old Trafford.

Either way, another addition of this calibre should strengthen the squad.
