The Athletic’s Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay has been speaking all things related to the Yorkshire club on the latest edition of The Phil Hay Show

Hay spoke about potential summer arrivals with just a matter of weeks remaining until the transfer window slams shut with Lewis O’Brien believed to be a Leeds target.

Leeds have reportedly tabled an offer that has been rejected by Huddersfield Town, with the Terriers hoping to see a bid in the region of £10m submitted.

The report from Football Insider suggests the 22-year-old is telling his current side that he would like to depart this summer, with Leeds his desired destination.

Discussing where Leeds and O’Brien stand over a potential summer switch, Hay had the following to say on how this saga may pan out in the coming weeks.

“O’Brien, I don’t think there’s any doubt if he gets the chance to jump from Huddersfield to Leeds, then he will.”

“I would have thought somewhere £5m/£6m would seem about right, really. I think Huddersfield would prefer much closer to £10m.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Brien to Leeds…

The Terriers have already rejected two bids for the youngster this summer and going by the report to emerge from Football Insider, it seems the player is growing frustrated by his transfer situation.

If the player does truly want this proposed move to Leeds, it will be interesting to see if he is willing to force a move this summer.

O’Brien played a huge role in Huddersfield’s season last time out with 42 appearances in the Championship, so we don’t expect the Terriers to give him up without a fight.

As Hay suggests, the two clubs clearly have completely different valuations on the player, so it may be a case of O’Brien having to take matters into his own hands to attempt forcing a move.
