Football journalist Dean Jones has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of Leeds United signing Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien this summer.

This comes after Jones made an appearance on a recent episode of Touchline Talk, where he spoke about a number of transfer-related subjects.

Leeds have reportedly been attempting to add the Terriers midfielder to their squad over the summer, with reports earlier this month suggesting that they would require a bid of £10m to bring him to Elland Road – while The Telegraph has more recently claimed that £7m could be enough to lure him across West Yorkshire.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

On the topic of O’Brien, Jones had this to say about a potential move to Leeds for the midfielder.

He said: “I think he’s got that kind of mentality that you need to be successful at Leeds.

“They do seem, from what I understand, pretty confident over O’Brien now.

“I know there’s been a little bit of competition in the last few days for his signature, but it sounds like it probably will happen, and I think it’ll be a good fit for Leeds.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments on a potential move to Leeds for O’Brien…

Given how Leeds have signed a defender in the shape of Junior Firpo, a goalkeeper in Kristoffer Klaesson and Jack Harrison in the wing position during the current summer transfer window, it would make sense, in our view, for the club to sign a midfielder such as O’Brien so they can strengthen that area of their squad as well.

However, despite Jones’ confidence that O’Brien will join Marcelo Bielsa’s side this summer, we feel that the fact that only Juninho Bacuna (43) made more appearances than O’Brien (42) in the Championship last season for Huddersfield probably suggests that the club would be rather reluctant to sell the midfielder this summer based on how important he was for them last season.
